The first Blu-Ray and HD-DVD burners have arrieved or do arrieve to the
market, i.e. the LaCie d2 BD drive. One thing is to use theses optical
disks as datadisks for backup purpose of video. The other purpose is to
burn HD video disks for playing/distribution.

I'm wondering how well HDV 1080i video quality is kept (preserved)
trancoding video for burning such HD optical disks?
Looking at the specification it looks like both BD and HD-DVD use
MPEG-4/H.264 High Prifile with color sampling 4:2:0 and 8 bit(?). This
isn't easy to compare directly with the HDV MPEG-2 specifications.

Therefore I wonder if BD/HD-DVD video quality will be as good as HDV 1080i?

Is Cinelerra well prepared to create these formats, maye another
authoring software is required?
