2) I noticed that for joins between separate videos on the same a/v
tracks, the joins between the audio and video segments did not end at
the exact same place.
This is a common annoyance! It is the result of the audio being
slightly longer in the source file.
The more annoying thing is knowing how to resolve it!
If we just made it such that the default insertion only placed the N*fs
number of samples of audio (where N is the number of frames) then it
should line up perfectly, but then if we capture in a auto-split
fashion, (to say split in 2 Gb files for archival purposes, such as
fitting on media) then when we insert video track's one after the other,
the sound will be mismatched!
A possible workaround for this last issue that I just thought of is the
possibility of making "virtual assets" (where a virtual asset,
"capture_bushwalk.toc" is really the concatenation of real assets say
"capture_bushwalk_{001,002,003,...}.toc"). To me this could possibly
resolve this issue.
Note a way to insert material into the timeline without these wierd
joins is via clips if you drag into the viewer first, then select what
you need, and make a clip, the clip will cut the audio up correctly.
Also, it's always best to cut your video such that the "align cursor is
on frames".
