Yes, you must first download from the radio.
Then you can and probably should save the clean image in the file save as menu.
Then you can import a CSV file with your wanted frequencies, or just edit what 
is there from the download, and then you upload to the radio.

No I didn't download anything from UV 9R to Chirp but I reset the radio to 
default which most people say you do then reset it to English, so you say 
download the content to Chirp then put in what you need i/E Marine channel then 
it will upload afresh.   Please tell me I'm correct  it does let me put my 
radio model in on a drop down do I do that as well    Thanks  in advance
