Hey Rohit,

The game industry is more into AR and VR of late, thanks to affordable head
gears and smartphones with good screen resolution with all sorts of inertial
sensors, by the time he starts his career these media will become mainstream
(aren't they already?). So I would suggest a good VR headset. And a very very
important thing, since you said he is still in school tell him to focus on
Matrices and Algebra (Math in general), he gonna need them to be successful.

Well, RPi3 will be RIP with kids.

And don't forget to introduce him to pygames!!! 😎

Hope that helps.

regards
Prabakaran

Subject: [Chennaipy] What is a good starting point for kids?

Hi all,

I have a nephew who is currently studying 10th standard. Last time we met, I
came to know that he has an interest in developing games and is at the (very)
beginning stage of understanding how "making a game" is different from playing
one. I was really surprised that he knew what JS is(turns out, he plays games
on web). I wanted to buy him a little present so he can poke his interest in
his free time.

I thought of giving him a RPi3. But there are a couple of issues

* Setting up Raspberry Pi might be a little tough initially.
* There is absolutely no one to guide him
* Internet access is very limited.

Any suggestions?

Rohit
