As seen in <https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=116885> the code in question was always nonportable and nonconforming. Although users were lucky until now, their luck ran out. This wasn't GCC 14's fault; it could have happened with any other compiler or compiler version.
