There is a standard list per (version of) OS. This is not identical for all (versions of) OSes, simply because not everything is available everywhere. Things like Boost aren't as useful to have a system version installed for as you may think, for testing if things work everywhere: you want to test against a very specific version of Boost usually, or against multiple versions. You need multiple installations then.
