We are using such setup for big (>500 OSDs) clusters. It makes it less painful when such cluster rebalances for a long time. During such rebalance monitor store can grow to some insane size (~70 GB in one case). Such big store is hard to sync when monitor leaves/join quorum for some reason (monitor timeouts on syncing).
