I had some trouble with centos 6 installed on ESXi 5. Vnc didn't work properly until i removed the file /etc/xdg/autostart/vmware-user.desktop.
I found the solution in this thread on vmware forums: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/326868 The same solution applies to xrdp since it uses vnc.
