Yes, I use it with 2008 with the SFU attributes present.  The standard samba3x
packages are sufficient.

I choose not to use winbind but instead use nss_ldap and pam_krb5 on EL5.  If
you're seeing what you say is your nsswitch.conf incorrect perhaps?
