It might be a firmware update, or a download accelerator (which requires ISP 
cache support) installer.

Something like NetZero, that uses special compression between the cache 
provider and the consumer that makes things seem to load faster.  In which case 
you have to have Windows to run the client side of the compressed cache stream. 
 This also interacts with the browser cache, and actually resizes typically 
too-large images down, something like what a PDF creator would do for embedded 
images to go to the actual PDF dpi setting.
