In 4.5, ipchains is no longer used; iptables is used instead.The changes you make (using the iptables command) are made in the kernel's memory. To save the changes to /etc/sysconfig/iptables, use the "service iptables save" command. When the system is booted (and the iptables service is enabled) it will read that file back into the kernel's memory.
