On your Windows box, set up a user and password that match *exactly*
what was entered for *samba* user/password. I can browse and connect
to samba servers with security = user .

Hi Akemi,
I've done that with my own un/pw on my WinXP machine as well as the new
CentOS/Samba server. in 'user' security mode, I get prompted as
described, re-feeding me the prompt with <SERVERNAME>/ray as the
username over and over again. No joy there.
