Doing what you want is very difficult because XDA guys are trying to reverse engineered ROM specifications and it's not very easy. Last time I tried I had to search on XDA the right version of tools and played with differents ROM format, believe me you really have a good reason to play with ROM cooking. It's not for the faint hearted and you need to be very patient. The big problem here is to extract system dll because they are packed differently from other files.
