Ok, so I didn't really get any feedback on this. I tried it out on
linux (ubuntu and centos8) a weekend or so ago and it works well. So I
think I will apply it soon. It needs libpam-dev or equivalent, but has
the great attribute that dtsession no longer needs to be setuid root.
I am going to disable the BSD versions though as they require extra
stuff that has to be downloaded and compiled as they do not support PAM
natively. I'll apply it to master, and then at some point in the next
weeks I'll merge current master with the autotools branch so it is up to
date.

No need to set SUID on dtsession anymore.
With PAM, a normal user could use his own password to unlock screen.
Tested on FreeBSD, NetBSD and Linux.
For FreeBSD and NetBSD, need to install a PAM module:
