I guess I should have specified that I am not looking to remove these
platforms, but was simply asking so that directions could be added to
the wiki and we could know for sure if they still work. If ulrich is
getting his hands on an HPUX system, thats one less unknown platform
that may or may not work, now all we need is an AIX system.

Actually we should be working on importing stuff from HP/UX and AIX into our
release.

I was using CDE first time on AIX (4.1.1 and 4.3 later) and
it had UTF-8 support, excellent translations in many languages
and many more.

Getting UTF-8 support should be a high priority. Pretty much everyone has moved to this now, and pretty much no-one uses the ISO8859-1 encodings anymore.

Motif apparently supports it, so would be nice if we did too, and then get rid of the iso8859-1 codings.

I just don't know enough about that to do it, or to know what would be involved. Help definitely wanted.

I wish we could import vendors' improvements into our project. Maybe time
to write IBM?

It would be nice, but they would have to be willing to give us the src code and then integrating it would be a challenge. That seems unlikely, but who knows. If anyone knows someone there, ask them :)
