Dear all,
Only 1.5 week left to apply (deadline November 8).
I have an open position for a PhD student in my newly established group in the
Biochemistry division at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) in Amsterdam,
the Netherlands. We are looking for enthusiastic applicants with a Master’s
degree (or equivalent) and experience in protein biochemistry and/or structural
biology. The starting date is flexible, but early 2026 or sooner would be
preferred.
In my group, we aim to uncover how the eukaryotic cytoskeleton drives cell
migration and adhesion. We combine structural biology with
biochemical/biophysical methods to study the dynamics of actin filament
assemblies and membrane proteins. The Biochemistry division of NKI has
excellent biochemistry and biophysics facilities, good access to cryo-EM and
good computing facilities. We have a vibrant structural biology community; we
share lab space and have regular meetings with the Sixma, Perrakis and Joosten
groups.
Amsterdam is a great city to work and live in. It has a vibrant cultural,
sports, music, and club scene, and there are many restaurants and bars.
Amsterdam is a very inclusive city and nearly everyone speaks English. It is
also a very compact city: you can bike from the NKI to the old town city center
in 15 minutes.
