This is terrific. Many thanks Derek. Yes indeed this is what we are looking for

Hi Chandra,

If I understand correctly, you are looking for structures in which two ATP
molecules have been seen to interact directly with each other. This has been
observed several times in the ATP-cone domains of the enzyme ribonucleotide
reductase (RNR) and its associated transcription factor NrdR, both for ATP and
dATP. NrdR even binds ATP and dATP simultaneously adjacent to each other. The
possibility to form dimers of these ATP-cone domains in the presence of dATP is
key to the oligomerisation that results in enzyme inhibition.

RNR complexes with 2x dATP: 8P2C, 8P28, 5OLK, 5IM3
RNR complexes with 2x ATP: 8VHN, 8VHP, 8P23, 7AGJ
NrdR complex with 2x ATP: 7P37
NrdR complexes with ATP and dATP: 7P3F, 7P3Q

Apologies to anyone whose structures I inadvertently missed!

/Derek

Are there examples where anyone has seen two ATP molecules interacting with
each other in the same protein structure and this dimeric state is needed for
%function (ie they should not have crystallized by chance due to
crystallization conditions).

Many thanks and a happy new year
