The Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine in downtown Chicago is seeking 
three Protein Purification and Crystallization Experts across three positions 
ranging in rank from Research Tech II/III, PostDoc, Research Associate, or

Position #1 will focus on purification of viral helicase proteins for use in 
high throughput screening efforts and for protein crystallization as part of a 
funded large multi-institution project. Expertise in protein purification and 
crystallization of ligand-bound structures from PhD/postdoc studies or at least 
6 years of technical studies is required. Good communication and willing to 
work in a team science setting is essential.
Position #2 will focus on purification of proteins for which structure cannot 
be predicted by computational methods as part of a large multi-institution 
funded project. This position is appropriate for person with PhD, Master's or 
Bachelor's degree with some technical exposure to working with proteins and 
willingness to master new methods under guidance of a senior supervisor. Good 
communication skills required to interface with large multi-site team.
Position #3 will focus primarily on protein purification and crystallization as 
part of the multi-site Center for Structural Biology of Infectious Diseases. 
This person will manage a suite of assigned proteins related to bacterial or 
viral pathogens and foster projects from plasmid design through protein 
expression, purification and crystallization. Expertise in protein purification 
and crystallization of many different types of proteins from PhD and/or postdoc 
studies is required.
Salary will be set based on position title offered and based on prior 
experience.
Technician range: $40,000 - $54,000 depending on years of experience
Post Doc range: $56,585-$80,000 depending on years experience
All position are for protein purification and crystallization, including 
complexes and/or soaking with ligands. Person will be responsible to carry 
projects from design of plasmids for commercial synthesis, protein expression 
and purification to protein crystallization, crystal monitoring and freezing. 
Crystallography experience is helpful although this person will work closely 
with experienced crystallographers and thus crystallographic data collection 
and analysis is not essential.
Communication skills are important as person will work directly with persons 
from outside labs to pursue studies. Ability to work with other team members to 
create a positive working environment is essential.
Position #1 and #2 are open immediately and thus candidates who do not require 
Visa will be prioritized.
