From: Polina Isaikina and Gebhard FX Schertler
PhD Position Available in the Schertler Lab at the Paul Scherrer Institute with Polina Isaikina (Switzerland) In the BIO Division at the Paul Scherrer Institute we have an exceptional opportunity for a PhD student to join our team specializing in modern structural biology of membrane proteins. The project will focus on the structural and functional elucidation of light-activated GPCRs from invertebrates, with an additional aspect involving GPCR engineering for optogenetic applications. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to enrol at ETH in the Life Science Zürich Graduate School. The position will be open starting from January 2024. For more information, please refer to the following papers from our research group: Varma et al. "Crystal Structure of Jumping Spider Rhodopsin-1 as a Light-Sensitive GPCR." PNAS, 2019.
