Hello all,

We are in the midst of organizing a two-part workshop focusing on developments
in serial crystallography, specifically addressing time-resolved approaches and
reliable and routine methods for user operation. We invite you to participate
in the open forum portion of the workshop, either in person (preferable) or via
remote connection. The workshop will be held at Cornell University in Ithaca,
NY.

The primary goals of the workshop are to get a clear understanding of a) what
developers are doing, b) where the development is headed, c) what our user
community needs, and d) to help ensure that as many of the development plans
align with these scientific requirements.

The two part workshop will therefore consist of –
     • A two day venue for developers (software, hardware, instrumentation
including sample delivery) to convene to discuss current work and challenges
(Mon-Tues)
     • An open user forum, also two days, to allow users to learn “what is
going on” and to steer future developments (Wed-Thurs; hybrid with in-person
and remote participation)
     • A final 'close-out' day for developers to assess and prioritize
feedback from the open user form, including suggestions for specific work to be
carried out in the next year to respond to that feedback. (Fri)

To these ends, we are very eager to have robust discussions with a broad cross
section of the dynamic structural biology community on the third and fourth
days of the workshop (Wed 19 July & Thurs 20 July). Perhaps your interests and
recent activities in this area are of keen interest to the developers and your
colleagues too.

In the case that you are interested in the in-person workshop (either as a
developer or a user), we sincerely hope you will join us and appreciate that
traveling for this is a big ask. But we feel the in-person workshop is
justified (especially as developers) as the intention is to share ideas and
ensure everyone works together to deliver what we need to get our science done.
If you can only participate remotely, please rest assured that we are working
hard to create a program that will benefit everyone, regardless of their
particular location.

We will collate and distribute a report with the results of this forum.

Please register by July 5th at the following website:
https://indico.classe.cornell.edu/event/2248/
There are options for either in-person or hybrid-remote.

We are looking forward to your participation.

The organizing team:
Jeney Wierman, Graeme Winter, Aaron Brewster, Allen Orville, Iris Young & Derek
Mendez
