Dear all, I would be grateful if you would please circulate this PhD opportunity to potential candidates in your network. Many thanks.
*PhD project: Drug discovery at the interface of DEL screening, cryo EM and AI machine learning* A 4-year fully-funded PhD position is available in Wyatt Yue’s lab <https://www.staff.ncl.ac.uk/yuelab/> at Newcastle University, under the MoSMed CDT <https://research.ncl.ac.uk/mosmed/> programme at Newcastle and Durham (UK). The project builds on the lab's track record in structural studies of human metabolic enzymes, to discover chemical starting points for inhibitor design, through working closely with medicinal (Mike Waring) and computational (Daniel Cole) chemists at the university, as well as an AI drug discovery company (Standigm Inc). The student will receive training in protein biophysics and cryo-EM (Yue), and have hands-on experience in DNA-encoded library screening (Waring), protein-ligand simulations (Cole), and machine learning compound design (Standigm). Details of the project as well as instructions on how to apply can be found here: NBDTP (ncl.ac.uk) <https://research.ncl.ac.uk/media/sites/researchwebsites/mosmed/22_07%20A%20novel%20drug%20discovery%20workflow%20combining%20DNA-encoded%20library,%20AI%20machine%20learning,%20and%20cryo-electron%20microscopy.pdf> The studentship is open to UK/EU/international applicants, with deadline on *23:59 GMT Wednesday 2nd March*.
