Hello All, I'd like to take a moment to invite you to join us for an upcoming webinar:
Towards a mechanistic understanding of motile and primary cilia with CLEM, cryo-electron tomography and expansion microscopy Date: November 16, 2021 Time: 10:00am PST, 1:00pm EST, 7:00pm CET Featuring: Gaia Pigino Associate Head of Structural Biology Research Centre, Human Technopole Register: https://www.labroots.com/webinar/towards-mechanistic-understanding-motile-primary-cilia-clem-cryo-electron-tomography-expansion-micro Abstract: In this talk I will show how the power of modern electron microscopy (EM) techniques, coupled with light microscopy and expansion methods, can open a window to the molecular dynamics of cells, enabling us to discover details about cellular processes at unprecedented level of detail. More concretely, I will show how we have used time resolved correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM), cryo-FIB-SEM/cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) and expansion microscopy (U-ExM) paired with confocal fluorescence microscopy, TIRF microscopy and mechanical manipulations of cells to study a number of essential molecular processes in motile and primary cilia, i.e. conserved organelles that are fundamental for most eukaryotic cells. While our own work focuses on the inner workings of cilia, many open questions in cell and molecular biology can be addressed by combining modern imaging methods and methods from cell biology in suitable ways. Learning Objectives: * Discuss how cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) is used for imaging the interior of cells at high resolution * Describe how cryo-ET can be combined with cell biology methods thru correlative light electron microscopy * Discuss new understanding of the processes involved in assembly and function of motile and primary cilia, conserved organelles that are fundamental for most eukaryotic cells Best Regards, Tara Tara Nylese Marketing Development Manager, Americas Life Sciences Materials & Structural Analysis Thermo Fisher Scientific tara.nyl...@thermofisher.com<mailto:tara.nyl...@thermofisher.com> (845)664-8445 [cid:image001.jpg@01D7DA42.A00444D0]<https://www.ascb.org/cellbio2021/registration/?utm_source=ascb-meeting-website&utm_medium=top-cta&utm_campaign=2021-virtual-cell-bio-meeting> ######################################################################## To unsubscribe from the CCP4BB list, click the following link: https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/WA-JISC.exe?SUBED1=CCP4BB&A=1 This message was issued to members of www.jiscmail.ac.uk/CCP4BB, a mailing list hosted by www.jiscmail.ac.uk, terms & conditions are available at https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/policyandsecurity/
