Position Summary The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics is seeking a post-doctoral Research Associate. The position involves enzyme biochemical characterizations and structure analyses in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Hausinger working in collaboration with Dr. Jian Hu. This position is available immediately for a highly self-motivated Research Associate with experience in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and structure biology. The position is associated with an NIH-funded project to characterize enzymes that synthesize and use the recently discovered nickel-pincer nucleotide cofactor. We seek an excellent scientist with hands-on training in molecular biology, protein expression/purification, and, ideally, structure determination by x-ray crystallography. This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position with reappointment contingent on satisfactory performance and available funding. Equal Employment Opportunity Statement All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, disability or protected veteran status. Minimum Requirements Applicants should have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology or other field closely related to protein structure and enzyme characterization. Desired Qualifications The successful applicant will have demonstrated skills in molecular biology and protein purification. Experience in structure characterization is highly preferred. Required Application Materials Interested applicants should search for posting #722092 at careers.msu.edu to submit a statement describing relevant skills, research accomplishments, research interests, a current CV, and contact information for three references.
