The newly-established Faculty of Informatics and Data Science invites
applications for a
Professorshipgrade W3 (chair) of Algorithmic Bioinformatics
with the status of civil servant for life (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit) to
be appointed as soon as possible.
Research may focus on algorithms of genomic and epigenomic analysis, RNA
bioinformatics, next generation sequencing, phylogenetic methods, algorithms of
structural bioinformatics, metabolom-ics, proteomics, microbiomics, or the
reconstruction of biological networks. Interdisciplinary cooperation with
colleagues from other faculties is desirable.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to shape the new Faculty of
Informatics and Data Science and contribute to the development of the new
bachelor and master degree programs in informatics and data science.
Involvement in the university's academic self-governance and in teach-ing is a
prerequisite. Teaching duties will include, in particular, involvement in basic
courses in bio-informatics including its algorithmic and statistical aspects.
Prerequisites for taking up the position are, alongside the general conditions
from public sector employment law, a completed university degree, pedagogic
suitability, particular aptitude for aca-demic work, generally shown by a
doctoral degree, and further academic performance shown via a habilitation or
equivalent which may have been performed outside higher educational
institutions or as part of the duties of a junior professor.
