Two Postdoctoral Scientist positions: Cryo-EM of neutralizing antibodies targeting SARS-CoV-2 Shapiro Lab Columbia University in New York City
We have positions available in two related research programs: First, structure/function work with SARS CoV-2-neutralizing antibodies, conducted in collaboration with Prof. David Ho of the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center (ADARC) at Columbia (see eg our recent paper in Nature on identification of potent neutralizing antibodies from convalescent patients treated at Columbia, https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-020-2571-7). This project is funded by the NIH and the Jack Ma Foundation. Second, in collaboration with Prof. Richard Friesner of Columbia Chemistry and also founder of Schrodinger, Inc., we will determine high-resolution structures (for example of SARS-CoV-2 spike complexes with neutralizing antibodies), and use these structures for advanced computational methods to optimize therapeutic properties. This project is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Our lab is equipped with state-of the-art instrumentation for protein production and biochemistry, Cryo-EM, and x-ray crystallography. With respect to Cryo-EM, in our own building we have access to an FEI Titan Krios microscope with a K3 direct-electron detector. Four additional Krios microscopes are available elsewhere on the Columbia campus, and six additional Krios microscopes at the nearby New York Structural Biology Center. Our lab is part of the vibrant Columbia and NYC structural biology communities, providing numerous opportunities for interaction with experts on multiple topics. Candidates should have a PhD in Structural Biology/Biophysics or related disciplines, and a track record of research achievements. Knowledge of protein purification and experience in structural biology are essential. Protein crystallographers with map interpretation and model building experience are encouraged to apply. Competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and assistance with housing are provided. Inquiries should be made to Prof. Lawrence Shapiro (l...@columbia.edu). ######################################################################## ######################################################################## To unsubscribe from the CCP4BB list, click the following link: https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/WA-JISC.exe?SUBED1=CCP4BB&A=1 This message was issued to members of www.jiscmail.ac.uk/CCP4BB, a mailing list hosted by www.jiscmail.ac.uk, terms & conditions are available at https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/policyandsecurity/
