Dear All, Please be aware that upgrade to MacOS Big Sur (https://www.apple.com/macos/big-sur-preview/), which will be released by Apple in near future, will cause cosmetic and minor functional effects in Qt-based CCP4 applications. The core CCP4 functionality, however, is not likely to be affected. Regrettably, we may be unable to rectify these effects in CCP4 7.1 release series due to significant infrastructural changes required. Therefore, you may wish to postpone upgrading to MacOS Big Sur until next CCP4 release, which is already in preparation.
Please be also aware that Safari 14 is not compatible with CCP4 Cloud (https://cloud.ccp4.ac.uk). Safari 14 comes with MacOS Big Sur as well as in latest security patches for MacOS Catalina and Mojave. The incompatibility is essential, and CCP4 Cloud will prompt you of it before starting a working session in Safari 14. After investigation, we believe that this incompatibility is caused by a bug in Safari and we will not attempt to address the issue until next version of Safari is released. Lower versions of Safari and other common browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Opera are all suitable for working with CCP4 Cloud. Therefore, we advise installing one of these browsers and selecting it as a default choice in CCP4 Cloud Configuration Utility: look for icon comprising CCP4 Diamond, cloud, and gear wheel in CCP4 7.1 setup directory. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. Many thanks for using CCP4 and please do not hesitate to contact us at c...@ccp4.ac.uk in case of technical issues and related questions. Bug reports and feedback are greatly appreciated. Eugene Krissinel CCP4 Core Group This email and any attachments are intended solely for the use of the named recipients.
