A postdoctoral associate position is available in the lab Prof. Elias Lolis at
the Department of Pharmacology, Yale University, to work on the structures of
chemokine receptor (GPCR) complexes. The chemokine and chemokine receptors
function as homeostatic and/or inflammatory proteins and are targets in a
number of disorders including autoimmune disease and cancer. This position
represents an opportunity for a postdoctoral scientist to develop their
expertise as well as broaden their experience. The successful candidate will
participate with a larger research team that includes graduate students and
postdocs working on mouse knockouts of these receptors in a variety of diseases
and the development of therapeutics. The project will combine structural
techniques such as macromolecular crystallography with biophysical and
biochemical techniques to investigate the structural basis of GPCR signaling
and its inhibition. The project also includes soluble proteins. Opportunities
for cryo-EM studies are also available within the department for large
complexes. The lab has all necessary equipment needed for the project and
access to the Macromolecular X-ray Crystallography Core Facility that contains
an Agilent HPLC with online Wyatt SEC-MAS, Nano-ITC, crystallization robotics
(LCP Formulatrix NT dropsetter, TTP LabTech Mosquito and Art Robbins Gryphon),
temperature-controlled crystallization incubators, Formulatrix RI-1000 with
visible, UV, and fluorescent capabilities, and Dectris Pilatus 200K Pixel Array
Detector with a Rigaku 007 generator. We have access to various beamlines in
the US. The lab is part of the SBGrid (sbgrid.org) consortium.

Qualifications:
The candidates should hold a PhD, be motivated to independently solve problems,
and a have a strong background in structural biology. Experience with Sf9
protein expression, purification and biochemical characterization is required.
Prior experience in membrane protein biochemistry and computational skills such
as a familiarity with the LINUX operating system is a plus.

The postdoc position is available immediately. The application must include:
(1) A letter of intent stating the scientific interests, technical skills, and
previous experience of the candidate. The applicant should also state when the
candidate will be able to start working at Yale.
(2) CV including field and date of (expected) graduation, if the applicant has
not graduated yet, and a list of publications, with the contact information of
at least two references.

Interested candidates should be sent their application to elias.lo...@yale.edu.
