Dear members of the ccp4 community,
One NIH funded Research Associate (postdoctoral) position is available immediately in the laboratory of Prof. Erik Martinez-Hackert at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. We seek a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in integrated approaches to investigate mammalian cell-signaling problems. Specifically, the hire will study the molecular and biological functions of TGF-beta family growth factors, their receptors and co-receptors, focusing on a structure-function understanding of extracellular protein-protein interactions. The lab combines X-ray crystallography, SPR and other biophysical techniques with functional in vitro and in vivo readouts. Significant aspects of our projects have translational potential. The lab is to also planning to take projects into CryoEM in the near future. The hire should have a PhD and at least 1 first author publication from his/her doctoral work. In addition, the hire should have significant experience in three of the four following disciplines: molecular biology, protein expression and protein purification, X-ray crystallography/structural biology and/or tissue culture. The hired individual will be exposed to approaches and ideas that will prepare him/her well for either academic or industry careers. Our projects are well developed and feasible.
