A tenure-track research lectureship has been created in the general area
of macromolecular structure, with a particular focus on the linkup
between neutron scattering approaches and state-of-the-art atomic
resolution cryo-electron microscopy. The post is funded jointly by Keele
University and the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), and will be located in
Grenoble. The appointee will form an integral part the of cryo-EM team
that will support the operation of a newly installed Titan Krios
microscope that is located at the European Synchrotron Radiation
Facility (ESRF). The cryo-EM team is led by the ESRF and also includes
scientists from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the
French Institute of Structural Biology (IBS). The current position will
constitute the ILL component of this team. The post-holder will, in
addition to playing a key role in supporting the user programme of the
microscope, have a major focus on exploiting the synergy between neutron
scattering and cryo-EM, particularly for the study of large biological
complexes. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute
to teaching in the Life Sciences as well as carry out forefront research.
