Dear All,

*PhD**position* is available in the research *group of Kristina Djinovic-Carugo* in the Department for Structural and Computational Biology, Max. F. Perutz Laboratories of the University of Vienna, Austria. The lab uses an integrative structural biology approach combining biophysical, biochemical and structural biology methods to address fundamental questions on muscle Z-disk structure and assembly. The project will focus on selected complexes of the a-actinin and filamin C interactome.

The PhD student will be part of an International PhD Program in Integrative Structural Biology (ISB Program) that offers a unique training and research network to study the structure and mechanism of complex macro-molecular systems involved in fundamental biological processes.

The ISB Program integrates state-of-the-art structural, functional and computational biology approaches with an emphasis on the implementation of hybrid structural biology methods. It offers interdisciplinary PhD projects, an innovative research-based training and mentoring program and a supportive, collaborative research environment. The working language for research and teaching is English.

*Key responsibilities include*

The production of protein using different expression systems, purification of proteins, biochemical, biophysical and structural characterization of the complexes using integrative approaches.

*Profile of candidates***

1. Solid knowledge and documented laboratory experience in at least one of the following disciplines: structural biology, molecular biology, biochemistry

2. Very good command of English (oral and written)

Highly motivated students with strong interest in structural approaches, holding an academic degree equivalent to a Diploma or a Masters in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, or related disciplines are welcome to apply.
