Postdoctoral Fellowship in Structural Microbiology Project description: A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the research group of Assistant Prof. Charles Calmettes at the Centre INRS-Institut Armand Frappier in Laval (Greater Montreal, Canada) to work on a joint research project with the group of Dr. Hilde de Reuse at the Institut Pasteur (Paris, France). For this position we are looking for a talented, highly skilled, and motivated postdoc with a proven track record in structural biology and protein biochemistry. The successful candidate is expected to dissect the structure and function of bacterial proteins (membrane and soluble proteins) identified as potential new drug targets, using a combination of X-ray crystallography and biochemical techniques. The applicant must have a PhD in a relevant field, such as membrane protein, biochemistry or structural biology. Preference will be given to candidate with protein expression and purification skills, and with a solid knowledge in protein characterization and biophysical methods. Experience in X-ray crystallography is preferred but not mandatory. The applicant will be an enthusiastic scientist who demonstrates excellence, creativity, commitment to research, and effective communication skills. The Centre INRS-Institut Armand Frappier offers a French/English bilingual environment. Salary range: Applicants must have completed their PhD degrees within the last 4 years. The position is funded for two years with possibility of extension based on performance. The salary range for the position is $40,000 to $50,000 per year.
