Hello, The Drug Discovery Unit at the University of Dundee has an open position to join our protein production and structural biology team. The Drug Discovery Unit (www.drugdiscovery.dundee.ac.uk) is a dynamic and multidisciplinary group of 85 scientists with expertise in compound handling, assay development, high-throughput screening, medicinal and computational chemistry and in vitro and in vivo pharmacokinetics. The unit is housed in a state-of-the-art building and has cutting-edge equipment and automation for hit-discovery and lead optimisation. We are seeking an experienced and motivated protein purification scientist/ crystallographer to help expand our protein production capabilities and support structure based drug discovery projects. Protein production is carried out using a variety of different expression systems within our dedicated protein production team (http://www.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/services/bcdd-protein-production). The role will involve construct design and development and optimisation of methods and protocols for protein production. The role encompasses protein crystallography and will involve generating ligand-protein structures as part of structure-based drug discovery project and novel protein structures. The role holder will be expected to contribute to current and future structure based drug discovery projects. The successful candidate should have a high level of technical expertise in all aspects of protein scale up and protein crystallography. Knowledge of drug discovery is desirable but not essential. Full particulars and application details can be found at http://www.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/vacancies/2017/oct/13/protein-purification-scientistcrystallographer For informal enquires please contact Sharon Shepherd (Operations Manager Protein Production) smsheph...@dundee.ac.uk or David Gray (d.w.g...@dundee.ac.uk) Closing date is November 15th 2017 Thanks Dr David Robinson Structural Biologist Drug Discovery Unit Division of Biological Chemistry and Drug Discovery School of Life Sciences Discovery Centre University of Dundee
