image analysis for tomographic and single-particle macromolecular structure
determination.

The Specialist will work with the High Performance Computing Group, the
Cryo-Electron Microscopy Resource Center, and member groups of the Structural
Biology Unit to address cutting-edge problems at the interface of computational
and structural biology. In addition to supporting ongoing research projects,

environment
  * Benchmarking and developing optimized hardware/software solutions
  * Interacting with and supporting the needs of a substantial user base
working on diverse scientific problems

Requirements:

  * Bachelor’s degree in computational, biological, or physical sciences,
engineering, or mathematics
  * A minimum of 4 years of experience in Linux systems administration in a
networked environment
  * A minimum of 1 year of experience in assembling and maintaining
high-performance computational hardware
  * Proficiency in compiling scientific software from source with complex
dependencies
  * Experience in troubleshooting and debugging the execution of scientific
applications

systems such as Slurm, PBS, or SGE
  * Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desirable attributes:

  * Advanced degree or equivalent experience in quantitative/computational
science
  * Expertise and experience with parallel computing technologies, such as
GPU computing with CUDA, MPI, OpenMP and embarrassingly parallel workflows
  * Previous experience with structural biology data processing, particularly
cryo-EM image analysis
  * Previous experience providing outstanding user support in an academic
