Dear CCP4 Community,

I would like to draw your attention to a Higher Scientific Officer (HSO)
position available in my team from 03 April 2017 on. For details, please see
below. The application deadline is 01 March 2017.

Best wishes,
Sebastian

A Cancer Research UK-funded Higher Scientific Officer position is available
from 03 April 2017 in the laboratory of Dr Sebastian Guettler in the Divisions
of Structural Biology and Cancer Biology at The Institute of Cancer Research in
London. We are looking for a highly motivated, organised and creative Higher
Scientific Officer with a strong interest in the structural and functional
characterisation of signalling proteins and multi-protein signalling complexes.
Work in our laboratory centres on the elucidation of signal transduction
mechanisms relevant to the maintenance and function of stem cells and cancer
stem cells, in particular the Wnt/beta-catenin network and telomere homeostasis
and their control by poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation. We take a multi-disciplinary
approach that combines structural biology, both by X-ray crystallography and
cryo-electron microscopy, biochemistry, biophysics and functional studies in
mammalian cells. For a recent publication, please see Mariotti et al. (2016).
Molecular Cell 63, 498–513.

You will be responsible for general day-to-day lab management, provide
high-level technical support for the production and biochemical
characterisation of recombinant proteins and multi-protein complexes, and
perform basic functional studies in mammalian cells.

You should hold a BSc (or equivalent) in biochemistry or molecular biology.
Extensive experience in recombinant DNA techniques and the expression and
purification of recombinant proteins is essential. Experience in protein
production in insect cells (MultiBac), mammalian cell culture and a background
in structural biology would be advantageous.

Appointment will be on a Fixed Term Contract for 2 years and 3 months, with a
starting salary in the range of £32,145 to £40,018 p.a. inclusive based upon
relevance of skills and experience.

Informal enquiries are welcome and can be made to Dr Sebastian Guettler

examples how you meet the person specification and including the names and
contact details of two referees) online.
