Dear Smith F is some structure factor amplitude, probably half of a map coefficient. Fobs is presumably related to some intensity observation. Important point though: you can name the columns in an MTZ *whatever you like* i.e. F1, F2, F_Hg, … so beyond some conventions adopted by CCP4 programs there are no limitations on the names.
It would be very helpful to annotate your question with F *from ??* Fobs *from truncate?* Fobs_cmpl *from whatever* so the people on the list can give you a more helpful answer. Sorry I could not be more helpful – MTZ is useful because it is *flexible* Best wishes Graeme From: CCP4 bulletin board [mailto:CCP4BB@JISCMAIL.AC.UK] On Behalf Of Smith Lee Sent: 17 November 2015 08:05 To: ccp4bb Subject: [ccp4bb] on mtz labels Dear All, Will you please tell me the difference among label F, Fobs and Fobs_cmpl for the mtz file format? I get confused. Best regards. Smith -- This e-mail and any attachments may contain confidential, copyright and or privileged material, and are for the use of the intended addressee only.
