Dear CCP4ers, Prof Yaoqi Zhou’s group (http://sparks-lab.org <http://sparks-lab.org/>) is built up a strong term for his molecular biology laboratory to interact with his computational structural biology laboratory at the Institute for Glycomics, Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia. Initial exciting discovery in protein expression optimisation, antibiotic inhibitor discovery and protein design leads to the current expansion of the team. We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow [RF Level 1.4, AU$76,778 (2015), AU$79,082 (2016) per year plus benefits] who shares a passion for scientific discovery to work in the area of novel techniques for protein expression optimisation in various host cells, and novel anti-cancer, anti-bacterial and anti-viral inhibitor discovery based on in-house designed proteins and peptides. Initial appointment is two years. Additional appointment is subjected to funding availability and mutual agreement.
The successful candidate with a Ph.D. degree in the Life Sciences should be an expert in molecular biology and mammalian cell culture, expression vector construction and cell line engineering, proven proficiency in data analysis, research design, and troubleshooting. In addition, he or she is expected to have experienced with some of the techniques below [advanced molecular biology techniques such as gene synthesis and DNA assembly, mammalian and yeast expression systems (e.g. CHO, NS0, HEK293, Pichia pastoris), various cell-based assays (toxicity, invasion, and cell viability), fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS), surface plasmon resonance (SPR), enzyme activity assay, isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), and protein purification (FPLC)].
