Dear colleagues,

My lab is looking to hire a postdoc with a biochemistry/biophysics/structural
biology background to study the dynamics of nucleic acid-interacting protein
machines using single-molecule FRET, please see ad below.

Postdoc position at Uppsala University, Sweden
The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (ICM) at Uppsala University is one
of the most international, interdisciplinary and successful research
departments in molecular biosciences in Europe. The department’s research
ranges from cell biology to photonics. This postdoc position will be in the
Deindl lab (http://deindlab.com), in the Computational and Systems Biology
program.

Starting date: As soon as possible.

Description of area/assignment: We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral
research fellow who will carry out biophysical studies into the mechanisms of
DNA- and RNA-interacting protein machines using single-molecule FRET along with
complementary biophysical, biochemical, and structural tools. Several ambitious
projects are available and can be tailored to individual interests and
expertise.

Research in the Deindl laboratory is directed at understanding the
molecular mechanisms of nucleic-acid interacting protein machines that regulate
gene expression or directly alter the genetic information. The lab uses a
highly multidisciplinary approach by combining state-of-the-art single-molecule
fluorescence imaging with a range of biophysical, structural, and biochemical
techniques.

Qualifications required: Applicants should possess a PhD in the life
sciences/biophysics and a strong background in biochemistry or single-molecule
biophysics. Experience in purifying and working with RNA- and DNA-interacting
enzymes is highly desirable. Good English language skills are essential.
Applications and informal queries about the lab or ongoing projects should be
sent to Sebastian Deindl. Applications are expected to include a letter of
motivation briefly stating research interests and expertise, a CV, and the
contact information for at least two referees.
