At the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge we are looking
to recruit a permanent Programmer to be responsible for development and
maintenance of the 3D electron microscopy (EM) image processing software
within the LMB. Primary responsibilities will include overseeing the
installation and updating of the various software packages; teaching and
advising post-docs and students on image processing problems; and
providing significant input in collaborations with experimental groups
on joint research projects. The successful applicant must also be
capable of independent research, e.g. software development of image
processing tools.
The person appointed will be expected to maintain an intelligent
overview and awareness of the available software used for EM, whether
developed within LMB or elsewhere in the world, although they need not
have direct experience or expertise with every package (training
on-the-job may be provided in this respect).
