Murray Stewart's Structural Cell Biology group at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge is seeking a postdoctoral scientist (3-year Career Development Fellow position) to work on the structural basis of the nuclear export of mRNA.
The successful applicant will use a combination of structural, biochemical and molecular approaches to establish the molecular mechanism of mRNA nuclear export and to determine the molecular basis for the formation and disassembly of export-competent mRNP particles. Applicants should have a PhD, together with practical experience in X-ray crystallography, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, especially with respect to determining the structure of proteins, growing crystals, determining binding constants, expressing proteins in bacteria, and site-directed engineering of mutants.
