*Postdoctoral Position in the University of Oxford * A postdoctoral research scientist position is available in the Wellcome Trust Centre in the University of Oxford, UK. The post is funded for 3 years Salary range £29,099 to £35,788 p.a (approximately 33,0000-41,000 Euros)
Our work focuses on the structure and function of cell surface receptors and their protein ligands. You will investigate the structure and function of molecules involved in a set of important cell surface interactions that are of great biological interest and have significant potential as therapeutic targets in heart disease. The role will involve protein production, crystallization, x-ray diffraction and structural computational work in parallel with functional work to characterize the interaction and the options for inhibition. There are superb facilities for structural and functional biology on site and access to the excellent synchrotron facilities at the Diamond Light Source. The Wellcome Trust Centre houses the Division of Structual Biology (www.strubi.ox.ac.uk) and the Structural Genomics Consortium is in an adjacent building (www.sgc.ox.ac.uk). You will have a PhD in Biochemistry or another subject and substantial experience in protein expression and purification for structural biology, protein crystallisation and x-ray crystallography. Ideally you will have experience of complementary biophysical and structural analyses of protein-protein interactions. Interested candidates are invited to contact Chris O’Callaghan chris.ocallag...@ndm.ox.ac.uk for informal discussions or to visit the lab. All applications should be made online. Please quote reference 100340 on all correspondence. Closing date 24th June 2011. http://www.ox.ac.uk/about_the_university/jobs/research/index/240611/arrs7924j/
