A postdoctoral fellowship is available in the group of Katrin Rittinger
at the National Institite for Medical Reseach (MRC-NIMR) in London to
study the structural and functional properties of protein complexes that
regulate inflammatory responses in an ubiquitin-dependent fashion. In
particular, we are interested in determining how different types of
polyubiquitin chains are synthesized and how their linkage type
determines specificity in signalling.
The ideal candidate should have a PhD in biochemistry, biophysics or
structural biology. Knowledge of basic molecular biology techniques and
protein expression is essential. Previous experience in X-ray
crystallography and the use of biophysical techniques for the
characterisation of protein complexes would be an advantage.
Our group is part of the Division of Molecular Structure, which
currently consists of seven research groups, employing integrated X-ray
crystallographic and NMR approaches as the principle methodologies for
the determination of macromolecular structure and dynamics. Our
activities are further supported by a diverse range of biophysical and
biochemical techniques including mass spectroscopy, optical
spectroscopy, analytical ultracentrifugation, binding and kinetic
analysis, cryo-electron microscopy, single molecule methods and
bioinformatics along with chemical biology approaches, all available
within the NIMR.
The position is available immediately for 3 years.
Informal enquires can be made to Katrin Ritttinger
