Several people have pointed out I missed the sourceforge svn repository.  
Considering I use this to make the fink package tarball, I am suitably 
embarrassed. 

However, I am still concerned that I can't access the "pymol incentive" product 
that I paid about $600 for.  Almost immediately after pymol was acquired, I got 
an email asking me if I wanted to purchase a subscription.  I pointed out in my 
reply that I already had one, and I asked it if would still be honored, and 
they said yes.  This was the first time I put that to the test.

Anyway, thanks to all who pointed out the free version source code is still 
available on sourceforge.
