Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position in
structural biology/chemistry funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF)
for a fixed-term duration of two years and administered jointly by the Middle
Tennessee State University (MTSU) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The
successful applicant will be stationed at the recently upgraded High Flux
Isotope Reactor of ORNL. She/he will participate in the operation of a new
image plate single-crystal diffractometer to be installed at the cold-neutron
guide hall and in development of the science program in supra and macromolecule
neutron crystallography. Research will focus primarily on the development and
application of high resolution neutron crystallography which allows to
visualize light elements in crystallographic structures.

She/he should possess a PhD degree in physics, chemistry or structural biology,
should have excellent technical, scientific writing and communication skills,
should be self motivated and able to work effectively within multi-disciplinary
teams. Background in neutron or X-ray scattering and previous experience in
crystallographic data collection and reduction and structure refinement are
advantages.

This post represents an excellent opportunity for a young postdoctoral
scientist to develop his/her expertise, broaden his/her experience and interact
with leading scientists from around the world.

Applications will be accepted through MTSU's webpage
(https://mtsujobs.mtsu.edu<https://mtsujobs.mtsu.edu/>) until the position is
filled.
