TWO POSTDOCTORAL /RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITIONS

Two posts, funded by the Wellcome Trust until October, 2011, are available in Murray Stewart's Structural Cell Biology Group. One post will concentrate on the expression, purification, and characterization of proteins and complexes involved in nuclear trafficking and mitosis, whereas the other will concentrate on their structure and function. The interdisciplinary nature of these projects will require the integration of structural, cellular, molecular and biochemical methods. Recent work from this research group includes: Nature, 432:872, Nature, 435:693, Nature Rev. Mol. Cell Biol. 8:195, and Mol. Cell, 33:727.

Postdocs (Research Associates) should have a PhD in a Biological area or equivalent experience, a strong publication record, and extensive experience in Molecular Biology, the bacterial expression, purification, and characterization of proteins, or in macromolecular crystallography. Experience in a relevant area of Cell Biology would be an advantage. Research Assistants should have a degree plus extensive experience in Molecular Biology, bacterial expression purification and characterization of proteins. The starting salary will be in the range of 19,624 to 31,358 pounds per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) supported by a flexible pay and reward scheme and optional final salary pension scheme. We can offer 30 days annual holiday entitlement plus public holidays and excellent sports and social facilities are available on site.
