Dear colleagues:

I've had a number of people ask about upgrading OS X. So far I haven't run into any major problems.

I've listed a few observations here:

Notably, the update shouldn't disturb your currently existing ccp4 install, but you now have the option of 64-bit ccp4 and coot (for example) should you want it. The tcl/tk that comes suppled with the system works with imosflm. Overall, the improvements to the OS are subtle but cumulatively significant, and the cost is refreshingly low. The upgrade itself is rather more like a point-release update than a major change in iCandy. Be aware before you buy anything that it won't work on ppc macs.

All the best,

Bill
