Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute Post-doctoral Positions Virus-Host Interactions and Structures
The laboratories of Drs. L. Wayne Schultz and Tim Umland are seeking highly motivated individuals to participate in a joint interdisciplinary research project investigating Influenza A and SARS-CoV virus-host protein-protein interactions and structures. Two positions at the Post-Doctoral level are available, with one to be hired as soon as possible and the second position available late 2009 or early 2010. Competitive applicants should have demonstrated scientific productivity and innovation at the graduate level, and possess a Ph.D., M.D., or similar degree. The project will involve mammalian cell culture based assays, detection of protein-protein interactions, recombinant protein expression and purification, virus replicon systems, and structural biology techniques such as x-ray crystallography. The successful applicant will have previous experience in several of these areas, and will have the opportunity to learn the other skills during the course of the project. Salary and benefits are competitive, and the appointment may be for up to 3 years.
