POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN CRYSTALLOGRAPHY AT UIUC-INSTITUTE OF GENOMIC BIOLOGY
An NIH funded postdoctoral position is available starting in Fall 2008 as part of a multi-disciplinary effort at the newly established Institute of Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (see http://www.igb.uiuc.edu/research/novel_antibiotics.html). The candidate will be involved in a multi-group effort to determine the crystal structures of assemblies involved in the biosynthesis of novel antibiotics. A number of well characterized, soluble proteins are already on hand for structural studies. A Rigaku R-AXIS IV++ mounted on a H3R (Osmic mirrors, inverted Phi axis, X stream cryogenics) is housed immediately adjacent to our laboratory. In addition, UIUC is a member of the Life Sciences Collaborative Access Team (www.ls-cat.org) and ample synchrotron access is assured to carry out this work. Candidates with a strong backgrounds in protein purification and crystallization is preferred and lack of experience in de novo structure determination methods is not a liability. Please e-mail or send a full-resume and three letters of reference to the address below.
