Dear BBers
A post-doctoral scientific officer position has become available in the crystallography group in Newcastle. The appointee must have demonstrated capabilities in solving X-ray crystal structures of proteins, and to be comfortable using linux for crystallographic computation. There are two main roles for the appointee to fill: 1. To participate in numerous collaborative research projects within the lab, requiring the individual to be flexible and organised. Where the appointee has contributed sufficiently, due credit will be ensured at the publication stage. 2. To be responsible for maintaining the X-ray facility and to take the lead on synchrotron trips to Diamond and the ESRF. Prior knowledge of generator maintenance would be advantageous, but is not a requirement as training will be provided. This is a fixed term contract of 3 years duration, with a minimal starting salary of £27,183 and the post is available immediately. As this is a key role in the lab, long-term securement of funds for this post is one of my priorities. Full details of the post, salary scales, and how to apply will be available on Monday 27th October on Newcastle University's job vacancy web page, www.ncl.ac.uk/vacancies, with reference code A231R. Informal enquiries for more information about the post can be made to me, preferably by email, but please note that full applications for the post cannot be made to me, but can only be made by following the instructions on the University's vacancies web pages. Best wishes Rick
