Dear all we have an opening for a post-doc at BM14 for 1 year duration. A summary is given below but please don't hesistate to contact me if you would like more details (please direct inquiries to me from the 18th august onwards as I'm on holidays from tomorrow)
OVERVIEW: Beamline 14 (BM14) is a bending magnet beamline at the ESRF dedicated to macromolecular crystallography and is one of the premier MAD beam lines in Europe. The beam line is funded as a joint collaboration by the UK Research Councils (MRC & BBSRC) and the EMBL outstation in Grenoble. In addition to fostering the use of anomalous phasing methods, for in particular UK and EMBL member state groups, the beamline has an active in-house structural biology research group coupled to a programme of beamline directed developments, in collaboration with groups at the polygone scientique campus, that provides state of the art facilities for the determination of protein structures. ================================== POST-DOCTORAL OPPORTUNITY AT BM14 ================================== Contract duration: 1 year Closing date: 5th September 2008 Structural biology research at BM14 is focused on understanding the molecular basis for adherence in the human pathogen Streptococcus pneumoniae. We are looking for a highly motivated crystallographer and/or molecular biologist to contribute to this research program. The successful candidate would also be expected to drive and contribute to beamline developments through a full hands-on approach as well as participate to the BM14 user program. REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field. We are searching for a person with excellent team and communication skills. A proven track record of macromolecular structure determination; experience in molecular biology, protein purification and crystallization are desirable. The position would suit a highly motivated and energetic individual who is keen to work in a multidisciplinary environment geared towards structural biology research. Applications should include a detailed CV, covering letter and contact details of three referees to Martin Walsh ([EMAIL PROTECTED], please include ''post doc vacancy in the email subject header).
