The advertised pressure limit for the econo-columns is only 0.1 MPa / 1 bar, which is substantially lower than any of the columns sold by GE/Amersham/Pharmacia, so make sure you set the pressure alarm (and/or change "SystemPumpControlMode" to "PressureFlowControl" with this pressure maximum in UNICORN). Fortunately, I suspect the plastic fittings will rupture before the glass breaks, but you'd lose your protein either way. (I haven't tried using one of these columns on an AKTA because of this issue, but I'm pretty sure I've run them on a peristaltic pump at relatively high pressure - not unattended, however.)
